Are you considering breast augmentation surgery in Paris? Below, we answer the most frequently asked questions. If your question isn’t listed, feel free to contact us directly — we’re happy to help.
Why have breast augmentation?
Aesthetic breast augmentation addresses both physical and emotional discomfort related to breast size or shape.
Silicone implants allow for a stable, long-lasting volume increase, significantly improving the quality of life for patients who experience self-esteem issues related to their breasts.
Which surgeon should I choose?
Breast augmentation with silicone implants is tightly regulated in France. It must be performed by a surgeon who is:
- Certified in plastic, reconstructive, and aesthetic surgery
- Operating in a facility authorized for cosmetic procedures
There are around 150 such surgeons in the Paris region, and about 700 across France.
Your final decision should be based on:
- The surgeon’s reputation
- Your comfort and trust were built during the consultation
Price is a factor, but shouldn’t be the only one influencing your decision.
What consultations are required?
- First consultation (paid):
~30 minutes with your surgeon. They’ll examine you, recommend a technique, and perform implant size tests and photos. You’ll receive a written estimate and a legal information sheet. - Mandatory 15-day reflection period
- Second consultation (free):
Final confirmation with your surgeon and a separate paid consultation with the anesthesiologist.
What scar options are there?
There are three scar types for breast augmentation:
- Under the breast (inframammary): Preferred in 80%+ of cases
- Through the armpit (axillary): Used in 5%+ of cases
- Around the areola: Less recommended — it involves cutting through the mammary gland, increasing the risk of capsular contracture (x3 higher)
Scar size: Approximately 4cm
Should the implant go in front of or behind the muscle?
It depends on the thickness of your breast tissue:
- If your tissue (pinched between fingers) is thicker than 3 cm → place it in front of the muscle, under the fascia
- If your tissue is thin → place behind the muscle for a more natural result
How is the procedure performed?
- You’ll arrive in the morning, fasting.
- Pre-op checks are performed by the anesthesiologist and surgeon.
- Surgery lasts around 1 hour.
- After 1 hour in recovery, you return to your room.
- The surgeon visits again before you go home, usually about 8 hours after arrival.
Outpatient surgery: Used in over 90% of cases
What type of anesthesia is used?
- General anesthesia is most common, especially for implants placed behind the muscle.
- Local anesthesia with hypnosis may be used for implants placed in front of the muscle.
How painful is the procedure?
- In front of the muscle: 2/10 (mild)
- Behind the muscle: 4–5/10 (moderate)
To limit pain, our anesthesiologists use the PECS block, which numbs the thoracic nerves for 24 hours, significantly reducing discomfort.
Most patients can return home the same evening.
What are the surgical risks?
- Anesthesia risk: Less than 1 in 5 million in healthy patients
- Main surgical risk: Hematoma (bleeding)
→ Occurs in 1 out of 200 cases, usually within 6 hours after surgery
→ Requires return to the operating room to remove the blood and cauterize the source
What size should I choose: 320 cc or 90 cc?
The ideal size is the one that fits your goals.
During your consultation, your surgeon will have you try external implant sizers in a sports bra to help you visualize.
- 320 cc = ~2-cup size increase (Average in France)
What’s the relationship between implant size and cup size?
- 1 cup size ≈ 160 cc
→ 320 cc = 2 cups (e.g., 90A to 90C)
→ 480 cc = 3 cups (e.g., 90B to 90E)
Which implant brands do you recommend?
Of the 7 brands available in France, we exclusively use:
- Mentor
- Motiva
- Polytech Health
These brands offer the best results in terms of short-, mid-, and long-term outcomes.
How much does breast augmentation cost?
- €6,5000 to €8,000, depending on:
- Implant type
- Scar location (armpit = more complex, requires endoscopy)
- Whether you stay overnight at the clini
Can I get reimbursed?
Health insurance may reimburse surgery in specific cases:
- Extremely small breasts (not filling an A-cup)
If eligible, we’ll provide a pre-approval form for your insurer.
You’ll then be examined by a doctor who will confirm coverage.

Yes!
We offer a 4-installment plan up to €3000 through Cofidis.
Requirements:
- Valid ID
- Credit card
- Bank account (no payment incidents)

What kind of bra should I wear after surgery?
- We recommend a Medical Z Bra combined with a support bra, especially for armpit incisions.
- Wear it as much as possible for the first 15 days
- After that, you can wear underwire bras
What activities can I do after surgery?
- Avoid heavy lifting (children, water packs, etc.) and intense effort for 10 days
- Non-physical work can resume 48 hours after surgery
- Sport: Resume gradually between 6 weeks and 3 months
How long do breast implants last?
Most implants last 10 to 15 years.
After that, replacement is usually recommended.
