Breast Augmentation with Implants: Pricing Guide

Price of breast augmentation by prosthesis: what you need to know

The total cost for cosmetic breast augmentation using silicone implants ranges from €6,800 to €8,000.

Several factors influence the price:

  • Type of breast implant
  • Surgical technique
  • Whether or not you stay overnight in the clinic

How Technique Affects the Price

  • Highest Cost (€8,000):
Placement of Motiva Ergonomix 2 implants via the underarm (axillary) incision using endoscopic guidance, in a dual-plane position, with one overnight stay.
This method is the most advanced and complex.
  • Lowest Cost (€6,500):
Placement of Motiva Round implants via a submammary incision (under the breast) using a subfascial approach, performed as outpatient surgery.
This is simpler, faster, and less painful.

Is Breast Augmentation Covered by Health Insurance?

In most cases, cosmetic breast augmentation is not covered by insurance, meaning you’ll pay the full amount out-of-pocket.

Additional out-of-pocket costs may include:

  • Pre-anesthesia consultation: ~€80
  • Post-surgical support bra: ~€60
  • Post-op medication and dressings: ~€100

If an underarm (axillary) approach is used, physiotherapy sessions may be necessary post-op, costing around €300.

Optional Implant Insurance

Motiva offers an optional insurance plan that costs €200, which must be purchased within one month of your surgery.
It covers up to €2,500 per breast in the event of implant rupture or capsular contracture, valid for 5 years post-op.

How Much Time Off Work Will I Need?

  • No medical leave is prescribed for cosmetic breast augmentation.
  • You’ll need to take 3 to 5 days off work at your own discretion.
  • If your surgery is on a Friday, it’s usually possible to return to work by Monday, assuming your job isn’t physically demanding.

When Is Breast Augmentation Covered?

In rare medical cases, breast augmentation may be partially or fully covered by France’s Social Security system — but only after approval by a medical advisor.

Cases that may qualify include:

  • Total breast aplasia (absence of breast development)
  • Tuberous breasts
  • Severe breast asymmetry

In these cases, additional surgical fees between €2,500 and €4,500 may apply. These can sometimes be reimbursed through your complementary private health insurance.
